Most Frequent Questions:Legality & Protection
is INFORAD legal ?
In France, INFORAD is legal and complies with the Highway Code.
The INFORAD radar alarm has been designed to encourage you to be prudent and to help you respect the highway legislation. Its database has been built based on information published officially by the services of the different countries in an effort to strengthen the information about high accident zones and consequently to improve road safety.
INFORAD does not detect the presence and does not disturb the radio or laser emissions of instruments used to detect infractions of highway legislation. Like any GPS system, its method of operation means it complies with article R413-15 of the Highway Code and consequently its use on the road is authorised and perfectly legal.
A certificate and technical report prepared by an approved expert at the Supreme Appeals Court are available for download from our website. This certificate, showing that INFORAD is in no way similar to a radar detector, can be presented during any potential control.
Moreover, GPS warning systems are entirely legal in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
Is INFORAD reliable and effective?
Yes, thanks to the GPS system, INFORAD continuously knows your vehicle’s position and speed and its processor compares this position with risk zones contained in its database. As soon as you enter a dangerous zone, controlled by a radar or not, INFORAD tells you immediately using simple and understandable warning lights and sound signals.
Is the INFORAD GPS a radar detector?
No, INFORAD is not a detector. It uses its internal GPS* receiver to calculate its geographical position. Every second its microprocessor compares with its database of risk zones. In this way INFORAD can provide an advanced and precise warning of high-accident zones controlled or not by an automatic radar. Does INFORAD provide warnings for locations where the police use laser binoculars and mobile radar detectors?
No, on the one hand not to risk infringing the Highway Code and on the other hand because most of these sites are used infrequently and their location varies considerably. This would cause frequent and generally useless alarms. However, INFORAD lets you programme as many personal points as you want. In this way you can create your own database so you can drive with your mind at ease.
Does INFORAD provide warnings for all automatic radars?
Yes, it provides warnings for all fixed radar locations. Traffic lights equipped with photo devices are also listed since they use radar detection or induction loops.
Since INFORAD doesn’t warn me of the presence of laser binoculars, shouldn’t I also get a laser radar detector as well?
The police’s laser speed measuring systems capture a vehicle’s speed in less than 1/3 second. Drivers that rely on such systems to protect themselves against a control will never have enough time to adjust their speed safely and without risk. Confronted with laser control systems, this type of detector can in no case provide drivers an effective preventive warning; it will be too late. INFORAD will soon provide, in addition to the location of automatic radar, the highway black points or high-accident zones. Since the police are now instructed to effect their control before these particularly dangerous locations, INFORAD will once again provide you with the best protection possible.
Can I use my INFORAD abroad?
